Radio feature on the impact of death by suicide
Karen Edgar of Bromsgrove group SOBS (Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide) and Phoenix Chair, Linda Jones were invited onto BBC Hereford and Worcester yesterday to talk about the impact on families of death by suicide. Karen described her own feelings about her father's death, and went on to speak about the group she and her sister have set up. Linda spoke about the importance of telling children the truth, in language they can understand. She explained how children can feel as though they are to blame in some way, and as though they are unloved and unloveable so they need a supportive family and friends, plenty of reassurance, and professional help if necessary.
